Start-up Culture

This event puts the German-American entrepreneurial spirit into the spotlight. Over the last decade, dozens of startup incubators and accelerators have opened up shop in Germany. Together with the rise of international digital firms like Facebook and Google, they have given birth to the image of a modern tech entrepreneur – one who navigates the internet, breathes digital data, speaks cloud and knows the lean startup method like the back of his hand. But the number of newly found companies in Germany is smaller than needed to maintain the size of the national economy and a vast number of traditional German companies are facing tremendous pressure due to increasing international competition. As a result, it has become a national goal to accelerate the German startup process, as well as give possible entrepreneurs a startup friendly environment in which to drive innovation. Michael Goldberg is an experienced venture capitalist and international business leader who will share his knowledge with us. His teaching is focused on the fields of entrepreneurship and early stage finance. Goldberg is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Design and Innovation at the Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University.
